**[[EBIT]]** or **Earnings Before Interest and Taxes** or **Operating Profit** is a financial metric used to gauge a company's performance in a way that is agnostic of its particular tax and reporting environment. ^about Its simplistic definition is just revenue minus expenses, i.e. specifically excluding taxes and interests. An extended version of this metric called **EBITDA** also excludes depreciation and amortisation. Excluding taxes and interests provides a clearer picture into a company's raw operating performance. The way a company is structured, where it operates, and many other factors will affect the taxes and interest it is subjected to. However, the fundamental business model and commercial operations of the business is generally agnostic (at least directly so) of these factors.
